Fondly remembering a local musical talent
It was with a very heavy heart that I announced the sad passing of local lad and noted musical talent Roger Mosedale this week – Roger had many, many friends and was well known, and the reaction to the tragic news was very marked indeed.

In memoriam: Roger Mosedale
It’s my sad and solemn duty to report to readers of the blog that local lad and friend to many regulars on this blog, Roger Mosedale sadly passed away in St. Giles hospice in Goscote on Tuesday, 19th July 2016.

2016 Chasewater Grand Prix – this weekend!

One recurring theme here on the blog is the story of one of Brownhills’ most notable sons – Dickie Dorsett, ace footballer known as the Brownhills Bomber, who was a major-league football star in times past and by all accounts a thoroughly decent bloke.

Brownhills Somme Centenary Remembrance Service – this Friday
Theres a really important service taking place this Friday morning (1st July 2016), commemorating the centenary of the commencement of the Battle of the Somme – the service is being held by Brownhills British Legion at the Cenotaph at St. James Church in Brownhills at 11:00am.

Brownhills riding stables vandalism incidents – can you help?
An appeal reaches me from Stevie Ansell who runs the riding stables on Pelsall Road; after a fairly quiet few months, it seems the vandals are back and after a spate of incidents last week, she has the following appeal to make:

White dog found in Brownhills – let’s get her home!
An appeal reaches me via Facebook from Pool House Veterinary Hospital – a rather gorgeous white dog was found in Brownhills yesterday (Sunday 29th May 2016) and it would be nice if we could reunite her with his owners, who clearly love her very much.

A Coppice, lots of timber and a little backtracking
The SLS rail tour that took place in 1959 has proven to be a rich seam of material, and has provoked much debate amongst blog readers about the locations of some photos, and just how and where the Diesel Multiple Unit pictured managed to reverse.
