The 1st October 2016 was the 86th anniversary of the worst modern-day pit disaster in our area, the Grove Pit Disaster, in which fourteen miners perished following an explosion a mile and a half below Brownhills Common, beneath the Ring Sun Inn.

Walsall Wood conquered by Romans
Walsall Wood FC were away at Rocester yesterday afternoon (Saturday, 1st October 2016), and again, they recovered late in the game but just couldn’t equalise – Bill Shaw was there and enjoyed a great game of football in awful conditions.

White dog found in Brownhills – let’s get her home!
An appeal reaches me via Facebook from Pool House Veterinary Hospital – a rather gorgeous white dog was found in Brownhills yesterday (Sunday 29th May 2016) and it would be nice if we could reunite her with his owners, who clearly love her very much.
