Well, it’s been a busy old time down at Oak Park Football Club, home of Walsall Wood FC – the overall season has started as usual before the official one with a series of warm-up ‘friendly’ matches and a rejuvenated, revitalised team with new management have squared off against a couple of higher ranking clubs with good performances.
Yesterday afternoon (4th February 2017) Walsall Wood FC travelled south to play Alvechurch away, and were sadly beaten, continuing a very unfortunate sequence of losses for the beleaguered lads from The Wood.
I see that there Kate Cardigan from the wonderful Lichfield Lore is organising a great Monday evening historical walk visiting twenty buildings around Lichfield, with her informal and fun Lichfield local history group, Lichfield Discovered.
Andy Roper from Walsall Wood Football Club has been in touch to let me know that they’re seeking people to help them in a number of positions around the club, from Physio to Groundskeeper.

Last Tuesday evening (22nd September 2015) Walsall Wood FC entertained Alvechurch at Oak Park, from which the visitors returned home with a one – nil victory which didn’t impress Bill Shaw, and neither did the referee.
