Those haunted, troubled eyes
Every year I write a post for Remembrance but this year I’m going to keep it short, because I still believe wholeheartedly in what I wrote last year, and as far as I’m concerned that’s still my view.

Road accident on M6 Toll island this evening
I’ve had a load of enquiries about an accident tonight up by the M6 toll slip road island just off the A5195 and Ogley Hay Road north of the A5 between Chasetown and Hammerwich – as luck would have it, there’s a fairly full report on the West Midlands Ambulance Service newsfeed which I post in full below.

Rosie’s walk and festival tomorrow!
To continue the rash of parish notices, tomorrow (Sunday 5th July 2015) sees the Rosie’s Charity Walk and Festival in aid of the wonderful Rosie’s Helping Hands Charity – I’m sure readers know the story of how the charity started, and now in the fourteenth year, this event raises a whole lot of cash for local good causes and proves that good things really can come from tragedy.

Walsall Wood brave, but blocked by Basford
Yesterday afternoon (Saturday 21st March 2015) Walsall Wood travelled to Nottingham to square off against Basford United, who they lost to at Oak Park a couple of weeks ago – sadly, the Wood failed to reverse the situation, but put up a brave show against the league leaders.

War is still hell
I run a variant of this post every year, because my views on Remembrance don’t change, but I feel it’s essential to mark it – and this year I’ve become increasingly disturbed by the way the act of Remembrance, and the symbol of that solemnity – the poppy – seem to have been hijacked by a motley collective of dodgy nationalist groups, a hectoring press and credibility-hungry politicians looking for a cheap headline grabber.
