We will never forget
It’s that time of year when I note Remembrance here in the UK and personally express my gratitude and concern for those who lost their lives in the service of our country – this post is one I make every year, but evolves as I think and reflect on those who paid and continue to pay a huge price for our freedom.

I remember it well… I was there. Or was I?
Periodically here, I muse on the nature of what we do – social, oral and collective local history – and wonder aloud about what makes it work, how to do it and whether we’re doing it right.

Frozen Charity Christmas Party this afternoon in memory of Jamey Coleman
I’m indebted to the Walsall Advertiser for reminding me that this afternoon you can meet Anna and Elsa from Frozen and really let it go at a Frozen Christmas Party in aid of the Headway Charity, in memory of Brownhills hit and run victim Jamey Coleman.

A request from the Degville Family
A touching and lovely message comes to me from Jackie and Sammie Degville, who are undertaking the race for life in aid of Cancer Research in honour of their beloved husband and father Paul Degville, who died following a protracted battle with the illness in January.

Memories don’t lie… or do they?
Yesterday, I happened to catch an item on a great Radio Four news discussion show, iPM. It touches on something I’m very interested in, which hugely affects recorded and oral history, reflection and recollection. False memory is a fascinating, little … Continue reading
