A found connection
Way back last year, Patricia Cotton sent in the above photo of her brother Tony, family friends Dora Rathbone and her son Bob enjoying a picnic and a paddle in 1955 by the canal in Brownhills, aroundabout where the banks of the old clay pit are today.

Showing some more class
Following on from the recent school photos, and as a precursor to some more Walsall Wood ones tomorrow, I thought I’d share the image above from old friend of the blog Alan Harvey, and a note about the image further down the post, spotted in last weeks Tony Portman gallery by Phil Smith.

Fantastic live music at The Chase Inn this evening!
The Chase Inn at Newtown, Brownhills goes from strength to strength – there’s not only great ale and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, but great live music most weekends, too – and there’s a great act on this weekend.

Bogus fencing contractors operating locally again – please be careful!
A headsup, folks – seeing a lot of reports of distraction theft and bogus callers operating in the area, particularly Aldridge in the last 48 hours (25th January 2017) – elderly folk have been prey to a man in a white van who’s pressing victims to pay for non-existent fencing jobs.

Fancy a run tonight?
I note from social media that there’s a very active running club in the locality and I just thought I’d sound the headsup for readers, as I know that the sport is increasing in popularity, and many beginners who’ve been enjoying park runs and the like are after clubs to join and improve their skill.

Wood fight hard but can’t trip up Tividale
It’s now three defeats in a row, all by two goal margins, but this could have been a different story, keeper Luke Kriskinans was man of the match with a string of fine saves to deny Drew Aiton, Joey Butlin and Liam Molesworth in particular.
