The Scouts do a whole range of great stuff, and is fin not just for the kids, but for the adult volunteers as well. Image from The Scout Association.
I have been contacted by John Currie of the 2nd Brownhills Scouts who’d like to appeal to folk who could help the group thrive and grow in the coming year.
In short, your local Scouts need you!

Hi Bob
It’s been a busy year at the Scout hut and we’re hoping for an even busier year in 2017.
This is where I am hoping that you can help us.
As you will be aware the scouting movement is run totally by volunteers, at Brownhills we have a great team but we really do need more volunteers across all sections to help run everything from weekly meetings to weekend camps away.
Volunteers do not need any background in scouting at all.
There are many different volunteer roles for different sections.
For example : in the Beaver section we need adult volunteers to help out on a Monday evening, this includes playing games, doing crafts, cooking, making camps and going on walks etc.At the other end of the scale in our Explorer section we need volunteers to help with delivering an interesting programme for 14-18 year old.
Everything from xbox game nights to mountain biking, climbing, camping and mountaineering etc.
The thing is everybody has something to offer and although it can take up more time than you first expected it is extremely rewarding and great fun and you can choose how involved you want to get, from maybe an hour a week to whole weekends away.
Even if you would just like to know a little more please get in touch.

The Scouts are a fine organisation, giving young folk access to experiences and social events that are unparalleled elsewhere. I know for a fact that John and his group are a credit to our community, and they all work hard to help out at Brownhills events.
If you’ve got a young one you think would enjoy the Beavers or Scouts, why not pop along and find out what they’re about? You can find contact details for your nearest group here.
