Stuck in a rut – beware, folks – the deer are getting horny….
This is just a quick note to warn people given to exploring the open spaces of the area that over the next 8-10 weeks or so the deer population will be getting amorous – it’s rutting time for our large brown friends, and that means one thing: the heaths around Brownhills, Clayhanger, Pelsall and Chasewater in particular are likely to be host to rather grumpy, aggressive stags guarding their female harems.

Walsall Council act to resolve local confusion over bin collection change
Hey up people – it seems that in November, there’s a shakeup of of local bin collection days in the Northern Wastes and to this end Walsall Council have been delivering leaflets notifying residents of the changes, which is fair enough.

Dog walkers beware – possible bait found on Clayhanger Common again
Reader Andrea Atterbury has been in touch to warn readers that items of what is believed to be meat bait have been recently found on Clayhanger Common including pig’s trotters, leading to renewed fears that poisoned bait may be being placed on the common again.

A reader living on the Watermead Estate in Brownhills (The new one between the Pelsall Road and Tesco) has been in touch with me asking to share with readers that her partner had his van broken into last night (Friday 18th August 2017).

There’s been a car break in in Shire Ride, Shire Oak, which took place on Wednesday 16th August 2017 between 3:30pm and 8am the following morning – a satnav iPod and loss change were stolen.

Bogus workmen detained by Aldridge police after tipoff from vigilant bank staff
Partnerships officer Kevin Pitt has sent details of a bogus workmen scam operating in Aldridge that has led to the detention of two men in connection with a scam in which a local OAP was intimidated into withdrawing money from their bank by workmen who claimed to have carried out unsolicited work.

Have you seen these bikes stolen from Brownhills in the last few days please?
A couple of bikes stolen in the last few days locally I’d like readers to keep a look out for if possible please – the first being a Carrera pictured below, stolen from outside Marios Chip Shop, Brownhills on Tuesday, 8th August 2017 and also a very distinctive Cannondale Prophet with Lefty single blade fork pictured above, stolen from Tamworth Close Brownhills on Thursday, 10th August 2017.

Pensioner robbed by bogus workman in Bradbury Close, Shire Oak
Partnerships officer Kevin Pitt has sent details of a worrying incident in the Shire Oak area last week (Wednesday, 2nd August 2017) when an OAP living in Bradbury Close, just off Pauls Coppice was robbed of £100 by a man claiming to be doing fencing work.

Bogus gardeners operating locally again – be vigilant
Partnerships officer Kevin Pitt has sent details that suggest the bogus gardener scam is running again locally, and this often targets homes in our area particularly those of the elderly and vulnerable.

I’ve had a fascinating and very detailed enquiry come in from reader Emma Smith that I’m hoping some of the old blog hands and researchers can help with – I know that Brownhills still has a British Legion Branch (whose current appeal for the Remembrance Parade is very important) and I hope someone can hook up with them to perhaps light this enquiry up.

Bogus workmen prey on another local victim – please warn the elderly
Yesterday, West Midlands Police issued an alert on WMNow about the distraction theft I reported on a few days ago in which an 83 year old resident of Castle close, Brownhills was victim of a distraction theft perpetrated by bogus workmen claiming to be utter cleaners.

83 year old local lady burgled by bogus callers – please warn the elderly
A headsup, folks – a heartbreaking crime occurred yesterday in Castle Close Brownhills were an 83 year old lady amputee had her house burgled by callers posing as gutter cleaners.

Intruders disturbed during attempted burglary in Shire Oak
There’s been an attempted house burglary at Shire Oak overnight, Saturday/Sunday 3-4th June 2017, in which intruders broke into a house in Shire Ridge – thankfully they were confronted and made their escape.

Walsall Wood lady robbed as wave of local bag snatches continue
Following last week’s awful news that a lady in Vicarage Road, Brownhills had her bag snatched it seems there’s a rash of such incidents ongoing, and I advise everyone to warn relatives and friends of the danger clearly currently present.

Incidents of distraction crime and bogus callers increasing – a warning from West Midlands Police
A headsup, folks – seeing a significant number of reports relating to distraction theft and bogus callers operating in the area, and Aldridge Neighbourhood Team have, in the last few days, issued an important warning.

Bogus tree pruners in Shire Oak again – be vigilant
Reader Andy from Shire Oak has been in touch (Monday, 10th April 2017) after his mother was targeted again by bogus ‘gardeners’ who claimed to have cut her back hedge and then demanded an extortionate fee.
Distraction theft at Morrisons car park, Aldridge – be careful, folks.
People are being warned to be on their guard after a distraction theft incident in the car park of Morrisons in Aldridge on Friday, 17th March 2017 in which a debit card was stolen from a car while the driver was being asked for directions, and subsequently used fraudulently.

Lady mugged near Clayhanger Bridge – be on your guard!
Worrying news from Clayhanger where near the canal bridge last night at around 11pm (Sunday 5th March 2017) a lady was mugged by a couple of robbers for £30.

Bogus callers operating locally – appeal from West Midlands Police
A headsup, folks – seeing a significant number of reports relating to distraction theft and bogus callers operating in the area – elderly folk have been prey to a man in a white van who’s pressing victims to pay for non-existent fencing and gardening jobs.
