Pictures from the Pelsall Festival of Water 2016

Despite a weather forecast that didn’t bode well, the first day of the three day Inland Waterways Association Festival of Water at Pelsall was pretty good when I called in, and the rain held off until the moment I left.

Walsall Wood draw with The Mikes yet again!

Last Tuesday evening (3rd March 2015), Walsall Wood FC played Boldmere St. Michaels at Oak Park and the match was yet another goalless draw, much to the frustration of Bill Shaw, who submitted the following match report:

Snow blind

Here’s a quick ride cam for the people out there who enjoy them – I know Trevor in Aus will like this one, as where he is, they don’t get much snow.

The weather wins as Walsall Wood draw with The Mikes

Boxing Day afternoon (26th December 2014), Walsall Wood F.C. played Boldmere St. Michaels at Oak Park and the match sadly ended early in a draw due to the inclement weather, a decision which caused some surprise in the crowd.

And eventually the match was abandoned, after 25 minutes of the second half played, and with the scores at 2 – 2. Image kindly supplied by David Evans. Continue reading

Kingdom of rain

This video takes a journey homewards after work – I pick it up in Walsall Road, Darlaston, and travel through James Bridge, Alumwell and join the New Ring Road at the Rollingmill Street junction.

Pictures from Pelsall Canal Festival 2013

Well, the weather behaved, mostly – a couple of sharp showers and a strong wind couldn’t dampen spirits with loads of stalls, activities, people and boats – Pelsall Canal Festival was a great afternoon out.

School’s out… or is it?

I’m trying to find out the status of local schools tomorrow, Monday 21st January 2013.

Theoretically, there’s a list of all schools closed in Walsall on Walsall Council’s website here, although Serco, the body charged with running education in Walsall, hasn’t bothered to update it since Friday at the current time of publication (9:20pm, Sunday 20th January)…

The fastest thing on the road

Just before Christmas, I got hold of a new bike cam. It’s a GoPro HD Hero black edition, which has some pretty nifty features, including less distortion from the lens and better performance in low light. I’ve been using it … Continue reading

Urgent help required

There’s something of dire social importance going on in Walsall right now. It’s cold, and people are on the streets. In town, there are a group of people working to help the displaced, the lost and the lonely. Please help them all you can.

Clear waters rising

The water level at Chasewater – as well as other questions – continues to fascinate. It seems I’m not the only one gazing on the waterfront – there’s another contender, top reader Andy Dennis. Following my musings last weekend on … Continue reading

Rain dances

This evening, like yesterday evening, I visited Chasewater. The day’s rain had ceased. I noted yesterday on my 365daysofbiking journal that I think the water level has increased about 500mm in the last week, and I was interested to see … Continue reading

Rain and shine

Yesterday afternoon, I paid my first ever visit to Pelsall Canal Festival. Sadly, I arrived just before the heavens opened, but after 20 minutes of refuge in a marquee, the skies cleared and the whole event cheered up wonderfully. So … Continue reading

People just don’t understand

Sorry for the brief hiatus in posts, I’ll post some more stuff this week. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying the unexpected wintry blast perhaps just a little more than I ought to. Like Yehuda Moon, I get used to … Continue reading
