Fire at National Tyre in Brownhills this evening
If you’re wondering what all the sirens were in Brownhills early this evening (Thursday, 21st April 2016), there was a fairly large fire broke out at National Tyres, just at Co-op Corner, on the junction of Lichfield Road and Ogley Road.

Accident in Sadler Road this evening?
I know very little about this one but friend of the blog @AntrigbyAjrigby tweeted me tonight (9:15pm Friday 17th July 2015) to say there had been an accident in Sadler Road, Brownhills, and the the road was closed with the junction of Lichfield Road.

No longer up the creek – Millfield School’s canoe returned!
Earlier today, I had the sad task of requesting help in tracing the scumbags who nicked a canoe and other sporting kit from Millfield School in Catshill, Brownhills.

Sports equipment stolen from Millfield School
I’m sad to say Millfield School in Catshill, Brownhills, has had their sport shed broken into twice in recent weeks, and sporting equipment has been taken – including a bright red canoe.

Millfield School needs you!
You’ll all know I’m keen to support local community organisations, clubs and schools where I can – such things are vital to the social life of the town and help folks get together and make things better for all of us.

Has anyone seen Sox the cat?
Here’s an urgent appeal for a lost cat that’s come in from reader Melissa Jade, via twitter – she’s lost Sox from Springhill Road in Brownhills – he disappeared on Tuesday 13th January 2015, and it’s not like him to roam.

Your chance to meet a local history legend next Friday!
This is a reminder that this coming Friday, the elder statesman of Brownhills local history Gerald Reece will be giving a talk in Brownhills on the subject – this popular and knowledgable historian last gave a talk in Brownhills in 2012, an event which is very fondly remembered and raised £520 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Farming controversy
I notice that over the past few weeks some outrage seems to be abroad over supposed plans to build a housing estate or industrial park, near Shire Oak on Lanes Farm, between the farmhouse at Sandhills and the Chester Road; broadly the site of the old Brawn’s Wood.

Unfolding the map
As promised earlier in the week, I’ve had some interesting maps, including a reproduction A1 size copy of the 1798 William Yates map of Staffordshire, scanned professionally. I came home today clutching a USB flash drive with nearly four gigabytes … Continue reading
