Never give up on a dream
One topic that steadily recurs here is the local motorcycling hero engineer that is Brian Crighton, who used to own the Honda Shop in Brownhills in the 70s and 80s – Brian is much liked and respected by the biking community, and his fame stretches far beyond Brownhills.

Ran like clockwork
Here’s an interesting one for 80s Walsall music fans, a fanzine of the period – I feature these occasionally, as I come upon them in my stash or as they’re sent in.

The spirit of radio
Here’s an interesting piece from reader and friend of the blog Stuart Cowley – I spent my teenage years glued to Beacon and miss it’s old, original incarnation terribly before the days of playlists and targeted marketing, the station was radical, quirky and had real Black Country personality. The life of Brian
Following the film of Norton Motorbikes whizzing around the lanes of Stonnall featured here last weekend, reader and local history author Clive Roberts has found the above video of Brian Crighton, who used to own the Honda shop in Silver Court, Brownhills in the 70s and 80s.

Celebrating Triumph
This film shows Norton Motorcycles – then at Shenstone, just on Lynn Lane – in an article on top gear from the 1980s – Note the worthy, serious tone of the piece, and the great film of Lynn Lane, Wallheath Lane and Stonnall.

Looking sharp!
I’ve been sent the above image by a reader who wishes to stay anonymous, and they’ve told me nothing about it whatsoever. I’d love to know more about it.

Brave new world?
The Birmingham Bull Ring feature I compiled last week seems to have stirred quite a bit of interest, both here and on Facebook. I realise it’s a long way from Brownhills, but for people of a certain age, hopping on … Continue reading

Acceptable in the 80’s
Long term readers will remember that last year, I published a post about local music fanzines of the late eighties produced by David Frost of Brownhills, and what a profound effect they had on the young BrownhillsBob. Whilst rooting for … Continue reading
