Too orangey for crows
I’m not sure if anyone was listening, but somebody in charge of the renovation of the former Muckley Corner Hotel clearly didn’t like that shade of tangerine. Last Sunday, I posted the following picture and expressed some surprise over the … Continue reading

Anyone know what’s going on at Muckley Corner?
The Muckley Corner – latterly re-christened the Old Corner House Hotel when new owners tried to take it upmarket – after standing idle for nearly two years now seems to be in the process of regeneration. No planning permission has been sought … Continue reading

A classier Hussey?
It has come to my attention that a planning application has been submitted for the long-closed Hussey Arms pub in Brownhills. Shuttered now for nearly a year, the fate of this landmark pub has been causing concern for many … Continue reading

Old Brownhills pubs question: Can you help?
I have been contacted today by a reader who’s been studying local directories for details of people and businesses of old Brownhills. They have come upon two public houses recorded which neither of us have ever heard mentioned anywhere else. … Continue reading

The lost pub of Pipehill
Some weeks ago, regular reader and commentator [Jeepboy] posted a comment on the ‘Pubs we’ve lost’ post enquiring if anyone recalled the pub that used to stand in the cutaway to the sandstone rock face on Pipe Hill, between Lichfield and … Continue reading

A pub we’ve gained: The Swan reopens!
I find through my Panoramio gallery that a pub I feared was lost for good – The Swan, up on the Pelsall Road – has since reopened. After initially restarting with an interim management a few weeks ago, this comfy, … Continue reading
