Search continues for ‘Bill’ Baker – more information now available
Ive been trying for a while to get any information on, or contact William John Baker, once resident in Walsall Wood for a while now, and as news information comes to light, I periodically re-run the appeal for the reader trying to locate him – last month they found a picture of Bill, above.

The search for Willian ‘Bill’ Baker – anyone recognise this photo please?
Last year I ran an appeal here to find a chap called William John Baker, once resident in Walsall Wood – well, the person who asked is still searching for him, and has found a photo which I feature above – note that this isn’t the William Edward Baker who used to work at Ryford in Aldridge.

Me engine’s flooded!
I’ve been contacted by readers Denis Jones and Ian Race, who both spotted a rather extraordinary thing at Chasewater yesterday: an echo of the past, whit modern amphibious cars cruising around the lake.

Looking for William John Baker please
Hi folks – this is one of those enquiries we get from time to time from readers – I’m interested in contact details for William John Baker it is thought was born in 1943, and was either a son of Walsall Wood, or lived there for a while, and certainly around 1965.

Amphibious Ferrie
I’m very pleased to note that Tony Winn has been in touch again – Tony seems to be something of an expert on the Ralph Ferrie history, and has formerly contributed some fine material relating to the larger-than-life local entrepreneur.

It’s been a while since I did a mapping post here on the blog, and yesterday, whilst visiting the open day at Christchurch, in Leomonsley, I saw a huge copy of the 1884 OS map of Lichfield that inspired me. If you ever get chance to see it, do so. A beautiful, A0-size hand-tinted copy, clearly for ecclesiastical use. A thing of rare and immense beauty.

Call the fire brigade!
Thanks to a tipoff from top local history sort Clive Roberts, I’m able to share some wonderful videos that have just appeared on YouTube. They’re uploaded by user BulldogDave303, and although not Brownhills, they’re in and around Walsall and are really rather good…
