Call the fire brigade!

Thanks to a tipoff from top local history sort Clive Roberts, I’m able to share some wonderful videos that have just appeared on YouTube. They’re uploaded by user BulldogDave303, and although not Brownhills, they’re in and around Walsall and are really rather good.

Clearly converted from old cinefilm, there is some remarkable footage here. If Bulldog would like to get in touch, I’d love them to tell us more about these wonderful clips. I’d certainly like to than them for making public such wonderful film.

I know the Rushall ones will be of particular interest to The Stymaster.

Bulldog’s description, ‘Rushall reserve fire station and engine going & returning from fire C1965’

Bulldog’s description, ‘Park Road in Rushall and surrounding areas in the mid 1960s’

Bulldog’s description, ‘Bescot Station, goods yard and construction of the M6 motorway near Bescot.’

  1. Love the Walsall 2 one…great to see the scenes along the canal and to see that the Manor Arms hasn’t changed much at all. Fantastic.

I agree with Linda, Walsall 2 was ace. The roadworks section started off outside what is now my mate Mike’s house. Absolutely loved the dog and duck section.

ne one know what the soundtrack to Walsall 2 is, please

    • I think it’s probably library music from the video editing software used; I fed it through SoundHound and nothing matches, and crucially, YouTube’s audio copyright filter hasn’t spotted it either.

On Walsall 2 it was great to see the fishermen did not seem to mind company. There even looked like a scooter parked on the towpath!
