An overwhelming sense of duty
Sister Dora is a beloved, dear heroine of Walsall; remembered long after her passing, she is a local heroine whose memory shines like a light in the grim, darkened industrial past of Walsall – her statue – finally restored to it’s rightful place on The Bridge, in the town centre – still sees regular laying of flowers and visits by those interested in the remarkable history it records.

Would Sister Dora go on strike? (via The Mushroom)
The Mushroom – crafter of fine rants about all manner of subjects, but mostly Walsall politics – has played a blinder. I just had to share this touching, very human post about the future of the National Health Service, those … Continue reading

Professor Sam Ramiah, rest in peace.
Yesterday, I like many others in Walsall, I was shocked to hear of the sudden, unexpected and totally unjust death of Walsall’s Director of Public Health, Doctor Sam Ramiah, who was taken by a heart attack at the criminally young … Continue reading

I don’t mean to carp, but…
With a touch of sadness, but no surprise, I noticed on Friday that Rodney, the Walsall Wood fisherman, is still without his fish, somewhat oddly christened ‘Bob’. He’s also been the victim of rather more destructive vandals, who’ve tagged him with … Continue reading
