Yet another sad request of a type that happens from time to time from the Environmental Health Department at Walsall Council, who are looking to trace any relatives or friends of Janette Walker (previously Jan Griffin) from Willenhall who has sadly passed away.

On the beach – the web that’s woven
Here’s a great example of me getting things wrong, and of how local oral history works with the community correcting me – last week I featured the great picture above from Julie Le Moine of herself as a baby with her mum, and ‘uncle’ Paddy (Walker) and ‘auntie’ Clarice’ on a beach in Blackpool in September 1966. Browhills canal assault: police issue statement
Yesterday I posted a warning and appeal for information after a local lady walking her two dogs was assaulted on the section of canal in Brownhills between the Lichfield Road and Chase Road Bridges: this area is at the side of the Castings factory, and often called ‘The Chemical’.
