- Andy Dennis has mentioned the answer to question 1 in a very recent piece of research.
- Question 3 is staring you in the face. It’s on the Anglesey branch, and may be a later addition.
- Question 7 is to the north east of Brownhills. It has water connotations.
- The manhole in Question 12 has also featured on the blog, and now we know why it should be bolted, to prevent water from blowing the top off.
Cheers , and good luck
Bob

This is now getting addictive, with help from the mint sauce and my wife, Question 1

At last!
the house plaque is quite right. I’d be interest in why it’s just so ornate. I have a feeling that the houses may be connected with William Roberts, but have no evidence. Well done, Andy Dennis spotted it a few days ago, but chose to be a gentleman…
Yes, the Gilbert bricks are in several railway structures, but most prominent in the Aqueduct conducting the Anglesey Branch over the South Staffordshire Railway. I’d like to know more about them, as they are clearly hand made, probably locally. The stamp is in a different place on every brick. You can see them along the edge of the towpath – lovely, large bullnose engineering bricks.
Q31 The Waterworks at Pipe Hill.
No, but it is in Pipe Hill. It’s a remarkable house with a Dovecote in the end gable, just at Fosseway Lane. Interestingly, David Evans got that one, but didn’t enter. I never noticed it before, only just spotted it before Christmas.
Right folks, competition has now closed. Thanks for all your entries. We’ll have a winner shortly…
