This year, it’s easier – the answers are out there. You could win Backyard Beer just for taking a New Year walk on your High Street!
Hey folks, a little later than hoped it’s the 2018 Brownhills Blog New Year Quiz – and don’t forget the photo competition is also running alongside, and similarly has beer and book prizes to be won!
Had some great photos sent in so far which I’ll post up in a gallery tonight.
On with the quiz – I will award a Backyard Beer prize (or equivalent) to the person who gets most questions right – there is a maximum of 20 points.
You don’t have to be an egghead to win, this year all questions apart from one can be answered simply by taking a walk through Brownhills and Walsall Wood High Streets (and immediate areas) with your eyes open!
Remember, this is just for fun!
Points will be awarded to the first person to comment the correct answer to any question. All questions worth one point unless stated. After that, no points will be handed out for answering it again. I will tot up the scores at the end. Answers will only be accepted as comments to the quiz posts, and my decision will be open and final.
I will close the quiz at 12 noon, Sunday 7th January 2018.
Remember to include the number of the question in your comment, otherwise it won’t be counted! Answers will only be accepted as comments here – any on Facebook, Twatter or via email will be ignored.
Don’t worry if your comment is held in moderation, I will take the submission time if necessary.
Good luck!

Both correct. The purpose of the metalwork is not what one might thing, and you probably need to as a youth. It’s connected to a shop that used to be where Smartronic is now.

Just returned from another research mission!
Q4: The springlike house name plaque is 5 Crocus Lane in the window of Ashcroft Memorials.
Q13: The callbox number located on the corner of Clayhanger Road/London Road is 01543 373611.
Q14: The top and bottom of the lava lamp is silver. The liquid looks blue/purple from outside. It wasn’t switched on and I couldn’t go inside as I had the dog with me, who was no help whatsoever!
Chelsea, Tony beat you to those, you were late but got many right. I’m going to sort a special spot prize for you for being a sport and taking part. Stay tuned
Right just 3 to go.
Crunchie? Need to look around. Morris could see him it he strained I think.
The green display has red writing, okay?
The metalwork is to prevent an activity.
Cheers all – Bob

Q 9 was Winter Warmers advertising winter books and recipes but the display has changed this week to Back in the day. Lovely lady who works in the library told us when we went in.
Cheers, correct. I chose that one as I thought it had a life beyond Christmas. Bugger. I knew either Downes would have a move around or that would happen. Well done. In that case I’ll also award a point to Chelsea who got the current display.
Apologies
