Do you know a kid who could make Brownhills alive… With the Sound of Music?
Old pal of the blog Jamie Norgrove contacted me from Brownhills Musical Theatre Company yesterday to ask if I’d put out this appeal for children and young people who’d like to audition for the youngsters roles in the company’s next … Continue reading

The class of 62
Here’s a great addition to the canon of postwar class photos from Brownhills Central Boys School, posted by reader Malcolm Jemison last week – he thinks it’s from around 1962, and it sits well next to the photos from the same school a decade earlier sent in by Margaret Hampton – I’ve included them below for comparison.

Tom, hark!
Earlier in the year, I published the memories of Elizabeth Hampton who grew up in Pier Street Brownhills, and I still have the second half of that memoir to come – however, this week she sent me some lovely school class photos from the very early 1950s at Brownhills Central Boys’ School (The Annex, now the Activity Centre).

Certified child labour
John and Paul Anslow have been great contributors to the Brownhills Blog over the last year or so – only recently, we had the great debate spurred by his wonderful images of the brass band and that monstink, Mr Bradbury.

You’d be crazy to miss this!
Lee Williams contacted me from Brownhills Musical Theatre Company late last week to ask if I’d give their latest production Crazy for You a plug – it’s running all this week until Saturday at Lichfield Garrick Theatre.

Desperately seeking… Bobby
Jamie Norgrove contacted me from Brownhills Musical Theatre Company yesterday to ask if I’d put out this appeal for chaps who’d like to audition for the part of Bobby in the company’s next production, Gerschwin’s ‘Crazy for You’, to be staged at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre in May 2014.
