Drone whizz, top photographer and former Brownhills lad Steve Martin has been at it again, and sent a remarkable set of images taken of Brownhills as most of us will never have seen before – from the air, at night.

Living next door to the Grove – what do you know?
Last year I featured a very popular set of images from a place I genuinely didn’t realise still existed: The Grove Colliery, the remnants of which – the house and offices situated just off Lime Lane, between Pelsall, Brownhills, Norton and Great Wyrley – were documented by old pal of the blog Simon Swain and drone wizard Steve Martin also captured the site from the air.

The Grove Colliery – remembering a lost pit
Last year I featured a very popular set of images from a place I genuinely didn’t realise still existed: The Grove Colliery, the remnants of which – the house and offices situated just off Lime Lane, between Pelsall, Brownhills, Norton and Great Wyrley – were documented by old pal off the blog Simon Swain and posted here as a gallery I include below.

High above the boats below…
It’s been a while since I featured anything here from top drone whizz and ex-Brownhills lad Steve Martin, and today it’s a pleasure to feature another remarkable gallery of his aerial photography, inspired by the recent Heritage Narrow Boat Club gathering at Silver Street.
Fire from the sky
The wonderful drone photographer Steve Martin, whose remarkable work I’ve featured here several times in recent months has played a real blinder and come up with a set of Brownhills photos that are by turns unique, stunning and fascinating.
Looking down on a lost line
Good to my word, and thanks to the generosity of drone-pilot extraordinaire Steve Martin, I can share with readers today the results of a wonderful photographic flight Steve made last weekend over Pelsall North Common and the Cannock Extension Canal arm, which is now truncated at the A5 near Norton Canes.

An uncommon flight over Chasewater and Brownhills
Drone whizz, top photographer and former Brownhills lad Steve Martin has been kind enough once more to send me not one, but two batches of images this weekend of familiar places around the local area, photographed from an aerial point of view – this first, above, features some great shots of Chasewater, Brownhills Common and Birch Coppice.
Flying into history
Reader and regular in the popular and fascinating Old photos from Hednesford, Chadsmoor and Cannock group on Facebook, Steve Martin has done something rather wonderful he’s been generous enough to share with readers of the blog.
