Pictures from Brownhills Remembrance 2017 –

Last weekend, Saturday and Sunday 11-12th November 2017 saw the annual Remembrance weekend in the UK and I’m pleased to say Walsall Borough and South Staffordshire did themselves proud and staged a whole range of parades and events that were well supported and attended – and I was especially pleased to see the wonderful turnout and effort in Brownhills.
I’ve already covered Walsall Wood’s event in this post here.
The Brownhills parade would have not been possible without Ian Neville and the folk from the British Legion in the town working so hard to raise funds for it, and of course all who gave so generously to fund traffic management for the parade.
My apologies for being a little late with this post, it’s been a complicated one to get together this year due to the sheer number of contributors and ways media is now supplied!
If I’ve overlooked your contribution, or you’d like something added, please comment here, bend me ear on Facebook or Twitter or mail me on BrownhillsBob at Googlemail dot com.
This wonderful montage was made by the Walsall Wood Razor Under 12s Football Team from Walsall Wood FC who were at Brownhills. You can check out their Facebook page here.
Old friend of the blog Dave Cresswell posted this interesting and well executed live feed from the event. Thanks to Dave for sharing that.
There was also a lovely, touching message of thanks posted to the Facebook group from Wendy Dance, daughter of Ron Dance, president of Brownhills Royal British Legion, which said:
On behalf of my Dad, Ron Dance, President of The Royal British Legion Brownhills branch. Could I thank all those that attended the remembrance parade today? This was an amazing parade, all those that took part were a credit to the parade. My Dad would like to thank each and everyone one of you including Walsall Wood football club and the Norton bikers. My Dad is proud of you all for attending this morning. Not forgetting our thanks to all that have stopped by on our table in Tesco to buy a poppy.
Wear your poppy with pride and see you again next year
A photo of my dad in church this morning with his Presidents medal!
On the contrary Wendy and Ron, thank YOU for organising everything and serving the town so diligently.
I also had this selection of images from Ray Smythe at Heath Hayes and Wimblebury Parish Council whose event looks to have been spectacular. Again, my thanks to Ray who was also remarkably tolerant of my absent-minded idiocy when I was compiling the list of events.
You Ray, are a gentleman. Thanks for your help.
Ray also shared this video of the Heath Hayes parade from the Cannock Chase Drum Corps, and again, thanks for that.
