Pictures from the 2017 Huddlesford Heritage Gathering

So many boats, so much to see and do…

Yesterday (Saturday 23rd September 2017) I got chance to go to the first day of the Lichfield and Hatherton Canal Restoration Trust’s Heritage Gathering at Huddlesford, near Whittington.

If you’re reading this on Sunday, the show continues today (Sunday 24th September 2017), and is just four quid to get in. Bargain! Find out details in this post here.

The Heritage Gathering is by a country mile the best canal do I’ve ever been to, even beating Pelsall’s wonderful events a few years ago.

You just can’t beat boater dogs.

I found loads of vintage vehicles, stalls, good food, music, arena displays, a very decent bar, some excellent cake – and wonderful boats with a huge selection of floating traders along the canal itself.

But as always at these events, it was the characters that made it, both human and canine.

I’ll certainly be going to this biannual event again – and best wishes to the Lichfield and Hatherton Trust, who staged a wonderful event to raise funds for a very important local history project.
