Has your bin not been emptied? There’s a reason for that…

Right Walsall Borough folks, listen up – I know some of you are concerned about bin collections at the moment as the service is clearly experiencing difficulties, on the very week that Walsall refuse collection schedules have changed.

The reason for the problems is that as you may be aware, there was a very serious fire at the Fryers Road refuse and bulking depot in Bloxwich over the weekend, which has caused capacity issues for the Council who are currently trying to engage extra capacity to cover the shortfall.

This fire could not have come at a worse time in light of the schedule changes this week, and the council are taking a battering on social media. Please be patient.

Today Clean and Green issued the following statement:

Due to the fire at Fryers Road tip it is likely that residents will experience a disruption to their bin collection.

This has come at one of our busiest times with most households having a change to their collection day.

Whilst we understand this will be frustrating our teams are working hard to rectify the situation and find alternate places to tip our waste.

We will keep our residents updated, please leave your bin out for collection if we dont get to your street on the scheduled collection day.

Thank you for your patience

Whilst I appreciate this is annoying, please spare a thought for the poor folks dealing with this – they are taking some shameful abuse and there’s no need for that whatsoever.

Nobody will die for a minor delay in bin collection.

I will keep you updated as and when I get more info but keep an eye on the Walsall Bins and Things Facebook page and Twitter feed for more updates, too.
