Continuing the scans of the Brownhills Gazette – I present issue 31 of the long lost freesheet, from April 1992 for you to peruse and download. I’ve had an incredible response to featuring these long, lost publications here on the blog.
David Evans, very kindly granted access to the archive held by former editor and contributor Brian Stringer, has been assiduously and conscientiously scanning them all. Every single issue. Every few days, I’m going to feature the next in the series.
This is the first issue with Lorraine Stanistreet as editor, a noted local community activist.

just a few bits and pieces the old ware houses at the back of the station hotel canal bason possibly houser the old great western busses but what i do know after the war the senior mr ferrie took it over and built horse bockses there id some buisness with him at the top of drive was were the market was held mik the miller had a butcher stall the poor folk used to wait until late saterday night when he would sell of his sgrag ends now boundreys jos hardings shop sstood on two ogley hay and stonall ddad used to say three i cant think of a third there was only one house in brownhills that was the station house mr stears was the station master at one time he was a member of the carnival commitee my dad was secretary i a page boy one year ha ha the last family i remember living in the station house was the bedfords my apolagies if i bore but i was brought up and reared in the old brownhills when you walked from the clock to catsil and you knew who were and when dad was born the botom of new road i believe the pair of houses still stand if bricks could talk what a history book god bless fromaer reg
