Costa Coffee franchise advertising jobs in Brownhills

It’s been a while coming, but it looks like Brownhills will soon have it’s own Costa Coffee outlet.

Some months ago it became evident that a franchise for Costa Coffee was planning on opening a branch in Brownhills – following mentions on Twitter by a design house and a subsequent planning application, which was approved last March, things went quiet.

Since planning went through successfully, the only thing potentially stopping a store opening in Brownhills would be if the operators changed their minds, but following old friend of the blog Rose Maria Burnell last week spotting people working on the building – where the ill-fated Blockbuster store used to be – I can confirm that the franchise have started advertising jobs for a branch in Brownhills.

The following position has been listed online here by recruitment site Indeed:

Barista – Supervisor/Keyholder Costa Coffee Brownhills
Pioneers UK Ltd – Walsall WS8
£7.30 – £8.00 an hour

Passionate about coffee. That’s Costa. Since our creation in 1971, when we started supplying coffee slow roasted the Italian way, we’ve grown to over 2000 stores across 29 countries worldwide.

Pioneers UK Ltd runs a number of franchised Costa Coffee stores across the Midlands. We have a number of opportunities to join the team to develop a new store opening shortly in Brownhills. As a Keyholder, you’ll have responsibility for opening and closing the store, along with ordering stock and cash handling. You will act as Supervisor and support the Assistant Manager and Store Manager in ensuring Costa brand standards are delivered by the team at all times.

We’re looking for someone with an enthusiastic and friendly manner and outstanding customer service skills. Previous supervisory experience would be an advantage but not necessary if you have substantial customer facing experience and are ready to make the next step. In return you can expect full training and £7.30 – £8.00 per hour.

Job Type: Full-time

Required experience:

Supervising a team: 1 year

If you wish to apply, click this link here. Obviously, the job and advert is on a third party site and has no connection with the Brownhills Blog  – queries can only be answered by the advertisers.

So there you go – it looks like we are actually getting a Costa in Brownhills. There also seems to be one planned in Burntwood at the former Kwik Save/Tesco store, in front of the MacDonalds restaurant that’s currently being built on the building’s car park.

I’m also hearing rumours (though as yet unconfirmed) that an oriental buffet type chain is planning to take on the former Terrace restaurant on the A5 at Newtown, Brownhills. I don’t know how much truth there is in that but there has been activity at the building recently.

Whilst I realise Costa isn’t to everyone’s taste, anything that creates business and fills an empty unit has to be good for Brownhills.

I look forward to my first cup of milky froth…

I suppose the cafe owners and like, will not be to happy with Costa coming to Brownhills , i did see the advertising board by Morrison at Burntwood this morning for MacDonalds, twenty four hour drive through service. That will be good (if it comes of), with the old Terrace restaurant on the A5 about time something was done with that place, keep fingers cross.

I think Costa is a different market to the other Cafés and in fact may not survive although it would be good if it did.

McDs have tried Brownhills before and failed and I can think of better things than a McDs for the Terrace site probably best to cut out the middle man and turn it straight into a car wash.

We already get enough litter along the A5 and dumped in any secluded place to park up from when the dope heads get the munchies late at night and fetch back KFC or McDs from Cannock. I suppose it’ll provide a base for the big exhaust brigade to congregate between races other than having to circumvent the barrier at Chasewater.

Am I the only one praying for the price of petrol to go through the roof to keep them off the road in the absence of any even slightly adequate level of policing to keep the noise nuisance and dangerous driving under control?

I think I’m turning into a right moaning git – maybe, just maybe, we could just have less to moan about???

      • Paul, I appreciate middle age is encroaching and we all have our crosses to bear, but I really think you could read that post again.

There’s no suggestion of MacDonalds at the Terrace. The MacDonalds is currently being built in Burntwood.

There is suggestion that a Buffet Island style place has taken the terrace.

The whole MacDonalds/Brownhills thing is interesting. MacDonads never opened a branch here, it was that grey version, a franchise. The franchisee applied originally to demolish and build a drive-through: refusal, following residential objections. They applied top convert the pub: approved, but without drive-through. 18 months later they applied to add one: again, refused. Franchisee (who was doing quite well, by most accounts) took bat and ball home in a huff.

But hell, who am I to let that get in the way of a good moan 😉
        Bet wishes

Lol – I’ll blame the drive to Bristol & back today and still seeing cars whizzing past as the cause of my sight problems. Right re-read and got it now. That sounds better for The Terrace and I do wish Costs the best – we could do with some high street names on the High Street.

          • We’ve all had days like that, just made me smile 😉

I think Costa will probably do OK. As you say, their profile is different – for starters, they’re not really the place for a bacon butty but the do open late in the afternoons.

            Time will tell, I guess.

I only found out the history of the MacDonalds in Brownhills recently. It’s absolutely remarkable.

            Cheers & Best wishes
