Just took a spin out up to the Rising Sun to check out the damage. Despite the grim tone of the original article, superficially there’s little outward evidence of serious structural damage. Might be worse at the back; I didn’t have chance to nip round the rear and check. Let’s hope it’s not too severe and this once fine pub can live again.

I had the same idea as you and checked it out this morning.
I went around the side keeping to the carpark, rear access being secure, and apart from a few blackened timbers on the carpark, and a slight burnt smell couldn’t find any signs of damage to the building.
Any idea who owns it?
Nice to see this lovely old building still standing.

My family owned the rising sun way back in the early 1970’s until mid 80’s and indeed it was my father who resurrected and restored the then shell into a wonderful building. We have much of the history of this wonderful place as researched for many years. The building and the poplar trees to the right side of the site (looking from the crown pub) i think are listed.
