The Brownhills Canalside Festival is reborn in 2019 – and it looks magnificent

Absolutely terrific news and a huge raspberry to the naysayers – the successful and sadly missed Brownhills Canalside Festival is full steam ahead for a huge revival in May 2019 by the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society who are planning to make it a whole weekend event.

It will take place over the weekend of 17-19th May 2019 and it looks like a real belter of a do – it runs from Friday Evening and from 10am until 5pm over the Saturday and Sunday.

There will be trade boats and stalls at the canalside, and other entertainment and a bar at the Community Centre on the Miner Island (The old Annex, or Central Boys School).

On Friday evening the 17th, there will be Black Country entertainment from the wonderful Billy Spakemon and pals.

On Saturday afternoon there will be an excellent railway historical talk by the knowledgable and expert Ian Pell, a regular contributor to this blog.

Saturday evening there will be the top folk band Wild Irish to get get glasses raised and feet tapping!

You can find out more by visiting the event Facebook page here, and posting an enquiry there or mail Brenda directly at boundarypost@gmail.com – I will keep you updated as we get more news and things take shape. Please do support this, it’s great to see it return and I for one love a good canal event.

My thanks to the BCN and Brenda for taking this on. Wonderful stuff.
