After the dismal depression of last weekend, which I always consider to be the end of summer, today worked hard to convince me otherwise. After sneaking out for an early breakfast, I enjoyed a spin through Great Wyrley, up to the old RAF Hednesford along the Chase Heritage Trail, zigzagged over Cannock Chase and returned via the Shugborough Estate, and up the canal into Rugeley. A lovely day, sun on my back, and autumn, although insinuating itself a little, still seemed some way off.

There is so much beauty around, if we take the time to look.
Just returned from a lovely walk which took in Seven Springs, Little Haywood and Shugborough Park from Milford, we were delighted to find the The Lockhouse restaurant at great haywood, jsut down from the zig zag bridge before shugborough. here we had tea and cheese rolls – great as we didn’t fancy buying a shugborough ticket just to use the cafe (good job as it’s closed till March) .
Had I not been poring over this blog the night before I wouldn’t have thought to come here!
We really fancy the millennium way walk down the canal!
