That excellent news site for our Staffordshire cousins ‘The Lichfield Blog‘ very kindly asked me a week or so ago if I’d guest on their esteemed organ by writing a companion piece to my post about the South Staffordshire Railway, ‘Train in vain’. In it, I try to examine the view of rail reopening from the Lichfield end of things. The article is a tad more po-faced than usual, as I felt I should really be on my best behaviour, but hopefully it will be of interest to those of you who read my original protracted grumble. You can find the article ‘Should the Lichfield to Walsall rail line be reopened?’ by clicking here.
While I’m about it, the ‘Train in vain’ piece has been run non stop for well over a week by the YamYam, and is one of the most popular articles I’ve ever written. Mark even unplugged his scanner for a bit in order to link to the new article, gent that he is. Thanks for all your support, folks. Coming up, I’ve got local history, some planning stuff, and a few photographic surprises.
Please, stay tuned. Inbetween, you could do much worse than visit The Lichfield Blog, The YamYam or take a shufty at the ongoing masterpiece of local journalism, The Bloxidge Tallygraph. There’s a lot of great local web stuff out there at the moment, please do check it out.
They’re almost as nice as that BrownhillsBob bloke. ;o)
Thanks for writing the piece, there’s a lot of interest in the railway line in our neck of the woods so it’s great to have such an informative and in-depth look at the situation, especially from a third angle.
