Child injured in traffic accident near Castlefort School, Walsall Wood

The Castlefort Estate suffers serious congestion during the school run. Image from Apple Maps.

I’m aware of ongoing reports of a car accident involving a child in Blakemore Road, Walsall Wood near Castlefort School this morning (Friday 15th September 2017).

Reports from trusted locals say police and an air ambulance were in attendance and a child was taken by ambulance to hospital in Birmingham.

You can read a report on this by the Walsall Advertiser here.

Local police have said they are aware of the incident and the incident is over, but enquiries obviously continue.

I will bring you more information as and when I get it. Obviously when such an incident occurs, public speculation will be at a high but I would ask that in comments on social media and other places online readers are respectful of those involved until the facts are known.

West Midlands ambulance Service said:

We were called to Blakemore Road in Walsall Wood at 8.37am to reports of a car vs child incident.

Crews arrived to find a young female toddler with multiple injuries. She was treated by ambulance staff for a head injury, a nose injury and hip injuries.

She was immobilised with the use of a scoop stretcher and given pain relief before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by land ambulance for further assessment.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident

My deepest sympathies and best wishes to the family and friends of the injured child.
