Yesterday, I collected lots of video and photos from my journey around the Black Country and Birmingham canals. Normally, this would all be on my 365daysofbiking Tumblr, but these two are remarkable and I thought I’d share them here. The tunnel is really fun to cycle, and not as unpleasant with a decent light as one may expect – but the idiot coming in the other direction wasn’t so enjoyable.
Hi Bob
Thanks for the great videos, I just have to figure out how to slow them down to walking pace!
All the best Pedro
love your videso’s bob, keep em coming !
Did he actually hit you as he came past or was that just noise from something else?
No, he physically clipped me. His bars just clipped my brake hoods then scraped my arm. That’s what happens when you use a head torch – your perception of gaps goes for a burton.
Cheers
Bob
Love the video Bob,
Quite eerie,I wonder if this is how it feels when you’re dying and heading toward the light?
I’m surprised we didn’t hear a few four letter words along with the clank. I bet under your breath, the other cyclist was motherless lol
Hi Caz
People said that you start to get claustrophobic half way through. Didn’t feel it even a bit, but you can see the light at the end from the moment you enter the tunnel. If it were not the case – if there were a bend in it – then it’d be different. The passing of the wall and handrail do get oddly hypnotic, though.
I did indeed swear – I cried a hearty W…. after him, and if you listen carefully to the audio there’s a dead spot just after he clips me where I muted the audio in editing. Often the case with this vids…
Cheers

Oh Bob….you spoilsport. I wish you’d left that bit in…..it would have been even more enjoyable to watch.
I’m not sure I could travel through it……I’d be worrying all the time about what else is in there with me and what I might be squashing,…… those little frogs for a start.
best wishes Caz
