Christmas fun this Saturday!

All in the best possible taste, of course...

I just thought I’d give a quick heads-up that there’s a Christmas fun day kicking off this Saturday (28th November 2009) in the High Street. There will be loads to do for all the family, including carol singing, children’s rides, face painting (I won’t mention Phoenix Nights if you don’t), a pantomime treasure trail and even a giant snowman…

All the town traders will be well into the Christmas spirit, and don’t forget the Christmas raffle. The event is being staged by Brownhills Town Centre Partnership and Walsall Council. Unconfirmed reports suggest that even the local yoots will be spreading the seasonal cheer, trimming their Burberrys with tinsel and chugging mulled wine straight from the bottle.

There will be all the usual traders, as well as the relaunched market, so there should be some festive bargains about. It looks set to be a great occasion, so see you there!

  2. What did everyone think of the ‘event’. I have to admit I was in town earlier than I should have been, but it all seemed a bit flat, though I did see a couple of Santas, and lots of PCSO’s about.

    • Hi Andy

I noted from tracey_q on Twatter that the tombola had raised over 300 quid alone, and that even today, raffle tickets have been selling like hot cakes.

I think we all applaud the efforts made to improve the general situation in Brownhills, but we have to be realistic; a Christmas fun event isn’t going to fix the problems in one sweep, and however much fun it is, Brownhills will have to recover somewhat before we can expect to challenge Covent Garden… I couldn’t actually make it due to an unexpected turn of events but when I passed through briefly about 3:30 it looked like it had been fairly busy.

Well done to the organisers, and I look forward to publicising more of your events. Just drop me a line…

      Bob
