Rights of passage. The local ones we all know; for those of a certain age, learning to drive on the Big K car park was an unforgettable experience – as was visiting this local DIY palace of glittering delights with the old man.
Susan Marie Ward recalls such an occurrence, and a lot of familiar local stuff, in a recent post on her Staffordshirebred blog. I know I’m plugging the hell out of her work at the moment, but I really want to shout about it from the rooftops.
This is an intensely personal, warm and at times funny blog. It’s from the heart. If you’re interested in local history, and not following it, you must be mad. It’s as simple as that.

I keep saying this, but it’s true. There’s never been a better time to be into local history than now. So many people writing such great stuff, all unhindered by commercialism. Long may it reign.
