What a fantastic environment to run in – but not in a hurricane! Image from Chasewater Parkrun on Facebook.
Sadly due to the incredible amount of standing water and mud at Chasewater, the organisers of Chasewater Parkrun have wisely but with very heavy hearts decided to cancel the event for this week which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, 22nd February 2020.
Chasewater’s course is on mostly rough tracks and ground that’s now waterlogged, so cancelling the event is totally the correct thing to do.
Several other Parkruns are cancelled locally so best check this post before selecting an alternative.
It should return next week all being well – so be patient and clean those trainers!
The organisers posted on Facebook:
EVENT CANCELLED 22/02/2020
Yesterday there was still a lot of flooding on the course from the weekend, and the additional rain in the last 24 hours has made the situation even worse and so with more rain forecast over the next day or so we just can’t see the levels receeding sufficiently.
We have to think about the impact of 2-300 runners on a waterlogged course and also the safety of all the runners, and so we have decided to cancel this weekend.
it is of course very disappointing but we hope you understand. Huge thanks to Gary who has been at the park a lot this week keeping an eye on the situation for us.
With the forecast over the next 7 days we are confident we will be back for the 29th Feb – we hope to see lots of you as the next opportunity to parkrun on the 29th Feb is 2048 (apparently)
