Rushall May Fayre needs you!

Here’s an important one I’ve been meaning to run for a while, brought to my attention by old friend of the blog, Claire Gibbs.

Rushall May Fayre is an important, annual and hugely popular community festival, which has been organised for may years by a dedicated team under the stewardship of Sue Blakemore, the human dynamo that had been responsible for so many great May events over the years.

As you will probably be aware, Sue passed away on 10th January 2020, which was a cause of great sadness to all who knew her. Sue will be much missed by the folk of Rushall who she served tirelessly.

The fayre will go ahead this year, but the organisers are calling for support and volunteers. This year they event will have a V.E. day theme, which should make for an excellent tribute.

The committee said:

As most of you will have heard, our Chairperson, Sue Blakemore, sadly passed away on the 10th January.

Sue was ‘Mrs May Fayre’, planning, baking, chasing, and organising, and ordering people around on the day from her chair at event control.

This years May Fayre will still be going ahead on Bank Holiday Friday 8th May, with a V.E. day theme.

Everybody’s support would be gratefully appreciated on the day.

If you are interested in helping out, either on the day, or as part of our committee, please contact Simon Gill (acting chair) on 07906 830140.

Details for applications for May Fayre Queen and Princess are to follow.

If you can help, please do get in touch with the committee – either by calling Simon Gill on the number above or check out the event’s Facebook page by clicking here.
