Storm Dennis: Chasewater Parkrun cancelled

What a fantastic environment to run in – but not in a hurricane! Image from Chasewater Parkrun on Facebook.

Sadly due to the rather inclement weather forecast for tomorrow due to incoming storm Dennis (Saturday 15th February 2020) the organisers of Chasewater Parkrun have wisely but with very heavy hearts decided to cancel the event for this week.

Chasewater is often windier than the surrounding landscape and with much of the course adjacent to or in woodland, cancelling the event is totally the correct thing to do.

It should return next week all being well for the Rainbow Run which was scheduled for this week – so get out your bright colours and prepare to set the park alight!

The organisers posted on Facebook:

The core team have taken the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow events due to a trespasser on the park named Dennis.

The safety of our runners and volunteers has to be our primary concern and the forecast is winds of 35 mph at 8am increasing over the course of the morning.

We want to give you all as much notice as possible so that you can make alternative parkrunning plans. There are still a couple of local parkruns that are still on but please keep an eye on their facebook pages.

Our Rainbow event has been postponed to next week so wear your rainbow clothes and make it a sea of bright colour !
