Abridged

Here’s one I’ve been meaning to run for a good while now: If you use the canal locally, either between Anchor Bridge and Lichfield Road via Ogley Junction, or at Pelsall North Common, there’s going to be some disruption for a couple of months while a couple of bridges are refurbished and painted.

Ogley Junction Footbridge provides a link over the basin that was the Lichfield and Hatherton Branch and is one of only three listed structure in Brownhills. Theoretically  it was closed on Monday 8th January 2018 and will stay so until March 2018. In practice, it will probably close and reopen as necessary, but a diversion will be provided when it is impassible.

The same goes for Pelsall Works Bridge, providing pedestrian and cycle access to Nest Common from the end of Wood Lane Pelsall, which will be closed in the same period. Again, a diversion will be signed as necessary.

Both bridges desperately need refurbishing and surfacing, and I welcome the work being undertaken by the Canal and River Trust.

Sorry for the delay in posting this.

Badly needed, there’s loose masonry on the bridge abutments. Good news it’s getting done.
