Thanks for the pictures of the Quarry in Wharf Lane. I worked there for Harry Farmer from early 1957 until September 1959 when I went to Theological College. I took my driving test in Wharf Lane on a Chaseside digger. There were two drag lines when I worked there, one was a 10 RB Ruston Bucyrus and the other, A Ransomes Rapier, it came from a Dockyard some where in the South of England. It had a ship’s diesel engine and was started by a noisy 350cc JAP engine, very Heath Robinson. I don’t remember the 10RB ever doing any work.
