A local pub thought lost, reborn. Gaffer Tony Colpitts pulls a pint in the reopened Drunken Duck as captured by Walsall CAMRA.

I’m pleased to bring you all some good news for a change – the Drunken Duck in Walsall Wood High Street which closed suddenly in the last few months has just reopened.

Walsall CAMRA posted on social media yesterday:

Drunken Duck, Walsall Wood.
Back open with your new genial host Tony Colpitts.
Four ales on the bar 🍺🍺🍺🍺😃

There had been fears locally that the pub was unlikely to reopen again as there was thought to be internal damage and loss of fittings, but Tony and his team seem to have got up and running pretty quickly.

It’s good to see a local pub reopen, and if we want to keep it so the best way to do that is simple – use it!

My best wishes to Tony and his team, who I’m led to believe also operate the acclaimed Wheatsheaf pub in Highgate, Walsall. If  Tony or any of his crew are reading this please do drop me a line and let us know what you’re up to.

Best wishes to all the staff and future punters. What a great Christmas present for Walsall Wood.
