2015 Remembrance services – can you help with details please?

we-will-remember-them

2012 Remembrance in Bloxwich, beautifully captured by Stuart Williams at The Bloxwich Telegraph.

This is just a quick request for help – in the past couple of years, we have crowdsourced from readers a list of local Remembrance parades and events taking place throughout the area, that was popular and useful to many of the readership.

I’d like to match last year’s list if I can.

Although some parades have been curtailed by lack of co-operation from local police, there are still a full range of services planned at churches and memorials around the area.

If you can supply details for Brownhills, Walsall Wood or other local services, please comment here. It’s strange that they’re so hard to get information for.

If you’d rather, feel free to mail me: BrownhillsBob at Googlemail dot com. Cheers.

  1. Sue Hill says:

Pelsall’s Remembrance parade, whilst curtailed somewhat, is still taking place, The march will be from Railswood Drive to the cenotaph with muster at 10.30am. The service will commence at approx 10.45-10.50am. Everyone is welcome to come along. Representatives fro the Pelsall Branch of the Royal British Legion will be present, as well as church leaders and local councillors. At the end of the service, a collection will also be made towards the Poppy Appeal in recognition of the knitted poppies, now all in glorious place on the village clock.

  2. As previously mentioned on here, there is no formal parade this year in Walsall Wood, thanks to the Police cut backs. There will however be an informal parade taking place along the same route as normal on the A461 Lichfield Road, but on the pavement instead, along with the same service at St John’s Church.
We will meet at Oak Park at the usual time of around 2pm, to process down to St John’s church, where we will cross Coppice Road and congregate at the memorial outside for the act of remembrance then in to the church for a short service, following by a similar procession back to Oak Park.
Scouting members, boys and girls Brigades and the local councillors are confirmed as taking part.

Brownhills branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding the remembrance service at St James church this Sunday 8th Nov at 11.00am, the parade will start from Brownhills Memo at 10.30am, for the first time for many years will not be going up the High street, but using the side streets Great Charles street to the Cenotaph, this again cause through Police cut backs, all welcome to attend.
